AWMA Members Rules

Of Engagement

Objectives of AWMA:

AWMAs intention is to provide a fun and safe supportive network to encourage its members to upskill, develop and gain knowledge and confidence in motorcycling by means of structured programmes and courses, delivered by Industry Professionals so its members can maximize their enjoyment and experience with a higher level of fulfilment in all aspects of motorcycling.

Section 1.0  Membership:

1.1          Full Membership:  (Female only)

Becoming a full member of AWMA entitles you to all member benefits including voting rights.                                      

1.2          Associate Membership: (Female only) Non rider or Developing Rider.

An Associate Membership entitles you to be actively involved and participate in events of AWMA, however excludes voting rights.. Upon obtaining a class 6L motorcycle license and owning their own motorcycle the Associate Member will be expected to upgrade to Full Membership.

1.3          Family Membership: (Main Member – Female Only)

A Family Membership comprises with the main Member being female and 18 years of age or older, including 3 other family members residing at the same address. (Committee has discretionary rights to review case by case applications for Family Memberships).

1.4          Membership Acceptance:

All applicants applying for membership to AWMA may be subject to review.

1.5          Member Objective:

Upon joining and holding an AWMA membership you are accepting all terms, conditions and rules of the Association.  Members are encouraged to be active in supporting AWMA with organized Events.  These may include:- organized rides, rider trainings, fundraisers, and community projects as arranged from time to time by AWMA.  These events will be available via the AWMA Events calendar.

Section 2.0  Events:

2.1          Event participation: (Organized)

Each member is encouraged to participate/support in at least 2 AWMA Events per year.  If a member has elected to be at an event in an official capacity, there is an expectation that member be present at said AWMA Event. If, for any unforeseen reason, the member is unable to attend in the support role, this member as a courtesy is to advise appropriate personnel ie. AWMA committee members or the person in charge of the planned event as soon as possible.

2.2          General Events:  Fun, Relaxation & Social

Rallies, Member Fun Practice Training Development, Organized member & friends rides, Off Road Rides, Community Rides, Social Fundraising Events/Rides, Shop Rides, Coffee Rides – café to café on bike or off bike.  Movies or other events as social get-togethers to include our Associate members.

Fun challenges interacting with other Riding Groups.

Members to recommend and suggest other Social engagements so all members can feel welcome.

Section 3.0  Structured Training Programmes

3.1          Self-development – Structured Training Programmes for those wanting to Challenge their skills:

AWMA has a desire to provide a structured educational and training network for all members to develop skills and gain confidence.  Upon joining you have the opportunity to engage in the various Training and Development Programmes of AWMA.  As AWMA has a strong focus on women becoming more confident and competent in all aspects of motorcycling, members are encouraged to select a minimum of 2 training courses per year to upskill.

3.1.1       Training Programmes include:

        Rider Development:

  • Entry, New Riders (conducted in a safe area)
  • Graduation Rider Programme, ‘Achieving Excellence in Rider Skills’
  • Off Road Riding Development
  • Motorcycle Craft – Mastering Motorcycle Controls
  • On Road Mentoring
  • Group Etiquette Riding
  • Road craft on Track
  • Race Track Etiquette and Training

                Mechanical:

  • Maintenance (Basic to Advanced)

                Safety:

  • Bike Awareness
  • Riding Attire
  • First Aid

Section 4.0  Reward and Recognition:

Members have the opportunity to be rewarded for their efforts toward self-development.  AWMA have developed programmes as indicated in Section 3.1.1 of this document for such development.  Rewards maybe in the form of an AWMA Certificate of Excellence,   AWMA Achievers Badge, and AWMA Trophies.

General Conduct:

It is considered that each member will be respectful of others and promote AWMA, its Committee and members alike in a positive manner.  Members conduct when representing AWMA in any capacity, will have the same duty of care as that expected of the Committee and members will not speak negatively in relation to any aspect of AWMA.

 Any concerns or complaints should, in the first instance, be directed to and addressed by the Committee.  Due process will then be carried out as per AWMA Constitution Rules.

Health & Safety:

AWMA is a supportive and caring organization and therefore will demonstrate a Duty of Care for its Members.  Whilst all measures are taken to minimize any Health or Safety Risk, all Members to the best of their capability are to ensure that a certain level of care is observed where Health and Safety is a concern. 

Disclaimers are required to be completed and signed by all participants where required at relevant AWMA Events.
